As I was browsing through Youtube the other day I found a PV that has the type of art style that I like. I didn’t know it was a yuri anime, at first I thought it was going to be like Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge, you know those laid-back, slice of life type of anime. As I got halfway through the PV I just then realized that the anime might be yuri (yeah I know I’m slow) after finishing the video, I looked it up and sure enough, it is yuri.
Kase-san Shirizu (加瀬さんシリーズ) is a yuri manga illustrated by Hiromi Takashima. The manga was first serialized in Shinshokan’s Hirari Magazine and Flash Wings back in August 2010 until March 2017. A sequel titled Yamada to Kase-san (山田と加瀬さん) was also published in Flash Wings just this April 2017. The manga was translated into English and was published by Seven Seas Entertainment. Each volume has different names like the anime’s adaptation title called Asagao to Kase-san (あさがおと加瀬さん), Obento to Kase-san (おべんとうと加瀬さん), Shortcake to Kase-san (ショートケーキと加瀬さん) and lastly, Apron to Kase-san (エプロンと加瀬さん) which are all released from 2012-2015.
An original five-minute net animation by Zexcs was released on May 7, 2017. Meanwhile, an anime series of it will be released in summer 2018 from PONY CANYON studio.
The plot of the manga and anime is about a girl named Yui Yamada who is a shy and timid member of the school’s greenery committee. She is often seen in the school grounds weeding and tending to the flowers in the garden beside the school building.
Yamada then takes notice of the very athletic tomboy-ish Tomoka Kase who is a member of the school Track and Field club. Kase also took notice of Yamada and soon the girls began dating.
I look forward to seeing how this anime goes. I don’t often watch yuri anime but I do occasionally read mangas. I know that there is another yuri anime that is going to be released called Citrus. I think I will cover it in another post one of these days.
